The Office of the Speaker is now accepting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the role of Parliamentarian in the Parliament of Alexandria.

Responsibilities:
  • Advising the Speaker and MPs on parliamentary rules and procedures.
  • Assisting with drafting, formatting, and amending legislation.
  • Ensuring debates and votes follow constitutional and procedural standards.
  • Acting neutrally and avoiding partisan involvement.

Requirements
  • Strong understanding of the Alexandria Constitution & Standing Orders.
  • Good legislative writing and interpretation skills.
  • Neutrality and professionalism — this is a non-political role.
  • Availability to respond to Speaker and MP queries.

3. Prior relevant experience (if any): I've worked as an attorney in DC for some time, so I know how to interpret the law. My legal experience there goes from working at a law firm, to independent defense attorney, to working as a Public Defender. I was also Prime Minister candidate for the United Central Party of Alexandria back in the day. While we didn't do great in elections, it did get me thinking about legislative and policy writing.
4. Why you're interested in the role (2–3 lines): I've seen the recent decline in activity on SC. I want to do my part to help out, and now that I have much more free time, it seemed like the best way to do it. I am also very hesitant to get into the political world, so a non-political role feels just right for me.
