Repeal the passport requirement for voting and holding office​


1 - About this Act
(1) This Act -
(a) may be cited as the Passport Requirement Easement Act.
(b) may be numbered as P.B. 06-### (to be assigned by the Office of the Speaker).
(c) shall be enacted immediately upon receiving assent from Her Majesty the Queen.
(d) has been authored by Capt B. Numbers, a private citizen.
(e) has been sponsored by Prime Minister McBrittle419
(e) has been co-sponsored by Member of Parliament SoggehToast.


2 - Immediate Amendments to the Alexandrian Electoral Act
(1) §17(1)(c) shall be struck.

(2) §17(2)(e) shall be struck.


3 - Future Amendments to the Alexandrian Electoral Act
(1) This section shall take effect after the Voter Paperwork Enabling Act passes a Constitutional amendment referendum. In the event the Voter Paperwork Enabling Act does not pass such a referendum, this section shall be null and void.

(2) §17(1)(c) shall be reinstated and read:
“(c) Hold a valid passport issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”

(3) §17(1)(e) shall be reinstated and read:
“(e) Hold a valid passport issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”

The Passport Requirement Easement Act​

Parliament notes:
(1) Due to recent court rulings, the legislation surrounding Passports needs to be amended. This will not be complete in time for election season. Therefore, the requirements of passports to vote and hold office needs to be temporarily removed.
(2) The majority of MoFA staff has been on LOA until recently. This has led to a potential backlog of passports needing to be approved which may not be approved in adequate time before voting begins.

Based on this, Parliament decides:
(1) To temporarily remove the requirements of a passport to vote.

To fulfill this, Parliament projects the following expenses:
(1) None.

Further, Parliament projects the following administrative efforts:
(1) None

To implement the above, Parliament passes:
