RESOLUTION
TO
To Make the Date of General Elections Consistent for Regular Parliamentary Terms
RESOLUTION
TO
To Make the Date of General Elections Consistent for Regular Parliamentary Terms
1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Resolution may be cited as ‘Election Date Persistency Resolution’.
(2) This Resolution has been authored by Member of Parliament ItsStormcraft.
(3) This Resolution has been co-sponsored by Member of Parliament Capt11543.
2 - Reasons
(1) The Electoral Terms set by the constitution give us the leeway to call for an election so that the date remains consistent.
(2) To automatically adapt the election date should there ever be an early election.
3 - Election Date
Parliament hereby calls upon the Prime Minister of the day to observe the following:
(1) Elections shall occur on the same date of the month as the prior election, simply three months later.
(a) E.g.: If the election occurred on the 15th of May, the next election shall commence on the 15th of August. If the election was called early on the 20th of July, the election following would only consider this prior election and shall commence on the 20th of October.
(2) If the day was chosen such that the next election month does not have this day, the day overflows into the next month.(a) E.g.: If the prior election was conducted on the 30th of November, it would land in February, a month with only 28 days. The election date therefore overflows to the 2nd of March. The election after, again only looking at the prior election, would now occur on the 2nd of June.
(3) If the above provisions are impossible due to the 90-day Parliamentary term limit imposed by the Constitution, the election shall commence on the 88th day.
