Employee Roles & Responsibilities

INTRODUCTION

The Ministry of Justice is the government's law enforcement Ministry. Its purpose is to protect citizens from criminals, uphold the national legal interest, defend the rights of citizens, and enforce the law. The Ministry is broken up into the following three Departments:
- The New Hamilton Police Department (NHPD): Charged with enforcing Misdemeanor crimes and policing.
- The Office of Litigation (OL): Charged with defending the legal interests of the Crown and enforcing Felony crimes.
- The Alexandrian Bureau of Investigation (ABI): Charged with investigating on behalf of the NHPD and OL to gather evidence and information.



NEW HAMILTON POLICE DEPARTMENT (NHPD)

The New Hamilton Police Department shall have the following roles:

CONSTABLE (TPC & PC):
- Entry level police position;
- Start with a two week training phase called the 'Police Academy' before being a full Constable;
- Upon completion of the Police Academy, Constables may be granted a Police Car;
- Handle arrests, fines, vehicle impounds, criminal records, and other basic law enforcement duties;
- Complete menial tasks and other duties as determined by NHPD leadership.

SERGEANT (SGT):
- Handle tickets without being assigned one by NHPD leadership;
- Request warrants to search property, players, and make arrests on certain properties;
- Assist in Squad Management
INSPECTOR (INSP):
- Vote on NHPD applications, promotions (up to Insp.), and other matters;
- Responsible for mentorship, training, and feedback for new Trainee Constables;
- Discuss and action infractions;
- Conduct asset seizures to pay off debts, in addition to using debt collection commands;
- Serve as a Squad Leader or assist in leading a Division.

SUPERINTENDENT (SUPT):
- Leadership team for the NHPD;
- Can override Inspector decisions (hold senior votes to Inspectors);
- Monitors NHPD employee conduct;
- Serve as a Division Leader.

COMMANDER (COMM):
- Serve as Deputy Secretary of Justice;
- Final say (apart from Secretary & Minister) on any police matter;
- Manage tickets, disputed charges, and employee disputes;
- Advise the Secretary & Minister relating to police policy & law.


OFFICE OF LITIGATION (OL)

The Office of Litigation shall have the following roles:

CROWN COUNSEL/PROSECUTOR:
- Work on court cases against the government;
- Gather evidence and formulate arguments, entreaties, etc. for case work;
- Work with the NHPD and ABI to prosecute criminals.

SENIOR COUNSEL:
- Manage Crown Counselors and cases;
- Override decisions made by a Counselor;
- Oversee the hiring and training of new Counselors;
- Take higher difficulty court cases.

SOLICITOR GENERAL:
- Serve as Deputy Secretary of Justice;
- Have the final say (apart from Secretary & Minister) on any government legal matter;
- Oversee the ABI and OL, including deciding to terminate an employee;
- Manage tickets, disputed charges, and employee disputes;
- Advise the Secretary & Minister relating to legal policy & law.


ALEXANDRIAN BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (ABI)

The Alexandrian Bureau of Investigation shall have the following roles:

DETECTIVE:
- Work in-game to solve murder cases;
- Work with the NHPD and ABI to solve basic criminal cases and gather evidence.

INVESTIGATOR:
- Conduct interrogations and investigations to gather evidence and information;
- Detain suspected Felony offenders to gather evidence;
- Collect evidence for government civil cases;
- Work with the MoTF and MoFA to uncover white-collar crime and espionage.

SENIOR INVESTIGATOR:
- Oversee Investigators;
- Vote on the hiring, promotion, and termination of Investigators;
- Lead higher-level investigations;
- Step in, when necessary, to protect the MoJ and/or citizen during a detainment.

- Serve as Deputy Secretary of Justice;

- Oversee the ABI and OL, including deciding to terminate an employee;
